Doctrinal Doxology
An editorial WordPress redesign for a theology and worship-writing blog.
The brief
The existing theme buried genuinely good long-form writing under a generic blog template — no hierarchy, no imagery, nothing that told a reader "this piece is worth your time" before they'd committed to it.
The approach
Redesigning around real article thumbnails and a magazine-style grid, treating each piece more like a printed essay than a blog post — while keeping every field, headline, deck, cover image, editable from WordPress rather than hardcoded into the theme.
What the redesign includes
- A photo-driven article grid, replacing a plain text listing
- A distinct type system for long-form reading, set for reading rather than scanning
- Fully editable ACF fields for every article's cover art and pull quotes
"Design richness matters even for word-heavy sites — the wrapper is part of the argument."
