Websites with real joy built into the pixels.
I'm Matthew — I design and build sites for churches, ministries, makers and small businesses who'd rather stand out than run on a template.
Three steps, no scope creep.
Discover
A short call to understand your goals, your content and who actually needs to use the site day to day.
Design
A real Figma design, not a theme preview — refined with you across one or two focused rounds.
Deliver
A fully editable build on WordPress or a clean static site — every word and image wired to a real field, nothing hardcoded.
A few things I've built lately.
Lamplight
A Bible reading plan and streak tracker, built to make a daily habit visible.
"The best habit tools are the ones you actually open twice."
View case study →Doctrinal Doxology
An editorial WordPress redesign for a theology and worship-writing blog.
View case study →Light & Layered
Brand site for an independent bakery in Bangor, Northern Ireland.
View case study →Dundonald Baptist Church
An 18-page church site, built out from a single Figma homepage design.
View case study →Cornerstone
A reusable, church-agnostic WordPress theme — no page builder required.
View case study →DBM
Dundonald Bible Ministries — a full content rebuild, mirrored from the live site.
View case study →Your site shouldn't feel like everyone else's site.
No page builders, no drag-and-drop bloat, no copy locked into the theme. Every Pixeljoy build is wired to real, editable fields — so when your content changes, you don't need to call a developer to change it.
What I actually do.
Website design & build
From first sketch to a launched site — designed in Figma, built on WordPress or as a fast static site, depending on what the project actually needs.
WordPress theme development
Custom ACF-powered themes with real editable fields — built for a specific site, or as a reusable product theme other people can pick up and brand themselves.
Brand & visual identity
Colour, type and layout systems for small organisations that need to look considered, not corporate — sized to the project, not a full agency rebrand.
Care plans
Ongoing edits, small requests and updates after launch — so the site keeps working as your content, staff and events do.
Three ways to work together.
A fixed-scope design and build — ideal for a new site, a rebrand, or a WordPress theme built from scratch.
- Figma design, up to 2 revision rounds
- Fully editable WordPress or static build
- Two weeks of post-launch support
For sites that keep changing — small edits, content updates and fixes handled without a new quote every time.
- Priority turnaround on requests
- Monthly check-in on performance & content
- Pause or cancel anytime
Multi-site builds, a WordPress product theme, a brand system, or a retainer that doesn't fit a neat box.
- Multi-site or multi-brand builds
- Custom WordPress themes & plugins
- Retainers scoped to your team's pace
Good questions to ask.
How long does a typical project take? +
Most single-site builds run three to five weeks from kickoff call to launch, depending on how much content review is needed on your end.
WordPress or a static site — which do I need? +
If you or your team will edit content after launch, WordPress with proper ACF fields. If the site is small and rarely changes, a static build is faster and cheaper to run.
What happens if I need changes after launch? +
Small edits are covered for two weeks after launch. Anything beyond that is either a quick one-off invoice or a monthly care plan, whichever suits.
Do you design before you build? +
Always. Every project starts in Figma so you can see and approve the direction before a single line of theme code gets written.
Where are you based? +
Northern Ireland, working remotely with clients — most recent projects have been churches, ministries and small businesses across the UK and Ireland.
